The A.F.S. presents 16MM FOR CHRISTMAS!

Tuesday December Eighth
8:30pm Doors / 9:00pm Showtime
$5.00
Black Box Theater
Upstairs
95 Empire Street
Providence, RI

An evening of 16mm Christmas shorts from the Arkham vaults! Will they be weird? Funny? Unintentionally Creepy? Or unfortunately Boring? Who knows because we will find out along side you as we plan to bring a couple boxes of Christmas themed shorts and see where they take us.

Unlike last years show, which was simply a compilation of Christmas oddities, this years is a collection of shorts. Some of them will be played right through normally while others will be "effected" and manipulated for a more experimental experience.

The A.F.S. return to the GHOSTHOUSE!

Tuesday, Nov 17th,
9:00pm showtime
$5.00

Empire Black Box
95 Empire Street
Providence, RI

About three years ago we screened Umberto Lenzi’s fantastically ludicrous 1988 movie GHOSTHOUSE! Many people have commented to us either about having fun at the screening or expressed their disappointment over missing it so let’s run it again. Plus Scott drew that great flyer art for us last time and I wanted a chance to use it again.

GHOSTHOUSE is a 1988 Italian haunted house film that literally throws every cliché and trope of the haunted house genre at you in the most ridiculous of ways! You get a creepy girl, a creepy doll, a ghost dog, hauntings via technology, an Easter decoration-wielding poltergeist, and even an appearance by Death. Really there isn’t anything more you can ask of a ghost movie than this so tune in your HAM radio, get in your camper, and take time to get a book that explains hauntings out of the library and read it while your girlfriend is in the shower because you need to see our encore screening of GHOSTHOUSE!

April brings the Beast!

Tuesday April 21st

9:00pm  $5.00

Empire Black Box
95 Empire Street,
Providence, RI

We have found a real oddball here, IMAGE OF THE BEAST (1981) is a feature length "post rapture" Christian scare film that I'm certain none of you have seen but will get a kick out of. Part of the Mark IV series this film is about the lives of those left behind after the rapture and the rise of the ant-christ. It may fall in the middle of the series but I bet we can all follow along easily. Plus we have a 16mm print of this one so that's how you get to see it!

So you like crazy, weird, low budget films that no ones ever heard of? Well then Intrepidos Punks is right up your alley. Here we have a Mexican film from 1980 about a rampaging gang of punks who’s crazy styles would put anything from Road Warrior to shame. We get two over the top cops doing what they need to in order to shut down the gang and their Mexican wrestler leader El Tarzan! Come out to enjoy the film and revel in it’s ridiculousness!

WOW we have BRAIN DAMAGE uncut on 35mm!

ATTENTION: The film arrived at the Coolidge today and it has unfortunately come to our attention that the print is not uncut as we had been informed. We are still awaiting a full inspection to know completely but we wanted to let everyone know immediately.

Saturday March 14th
Midnight
$12.00
Coolidge Corner Theater
290 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA

Holy crap can you believe we’re showing Frank Henenlotter’s BRAIN DAMAGE! Yes that’s right, with the assistance of Northwest Nightmares and Klubb Super 8 we’ve managed to bring you an uncut 35mm print of this cult 80’s splatter classic. For those unfamiliar with BRAIN DAMAGE this 1988 film tells the tail of a young man and his parasite and is brought to you by the same filmmaker who gave us Basket Case and Frankenhooker!

So in conclusion this is an extremely rare uncut film print, this is the only U.S. screening of this film while it’s on our continent, and it is highly unlikely that this print will come back! Plus this marks a milestone of The Arkham Film Society breaking into the Boston market so we hope to see many familiar faces and make many new friends!
