Wednesday June 27th
7:30 doors – 8:00 movie
$5.00 admission
95 Empire Black Box at
95 Empire Street, Providence
At our June meeting the Arkham Film Society brings you THE
MAN WHO SAVED THE WORLD, better known as TURKISH STAR WARS, and we have luckily
found a copy with English subtitles so we’ll all know what’s going on. TURKISH STAR WARS is not a Star Wars
clone as its nickname would suggest, but rather liberally lifts large amounts
of footage from the classic film (along with soundtracks from other films.) For
more info check out this fan made trailer, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOjSSTbhCIk&feature=related
.
We at the Arkham Film Society hope to use these monthly
meetings to expose our audience to a mix of obscure forgotten films along with
some new independent features. Please let us know what you thing of our
programming by leaving suggestions and comments at our Facebook group, www.facebook.com/groups/arkhamscreenings
.
This screening is being brought to you with the help of
Malachi’s Café and Analog Underground Records. As an added bonus for all of you
vinyl soundtrack and world music collectors out there Analog Underground will
have a table at this screening to sell soundtracks and Turkish music records,
so get there early. Please check out these local businesses, www.facebook.com/malachisri and www.facebook.com/pages/Analog-Underground
.
