The Arkham Film Society and Malachi’s Café Present an Eighties Slasher double feature on 35mm! That’s right two whole films on 35mm and a bunch of crazy slasher themed trailers for only $10.00.

MADMAN (Dir. Joe Giannone – 1982) One of slasherdom’s most fun films, come watch as MADMAN MARZ hacks and slashes his way through a group of camp counselors all just because they called out his name.
Check out the trailer http://youtu.be/jUhV2I0bsbg

Followed by

Final Terror (Dir. Andrew Davis – 1983) Check out one of the most underrated slasher films of the era as a group of forest rangers intend to clear some long unused trails and encounter someone who doesn’t like to be bothered. Stars Daryl Hannah, Rachel Ward, Mark Metcalf, and Joe Pantoliano in early roles.
This is a misleading television spot for Final Terror http://youtu.be/arzf21gwOo8

Nightmare City (Dir. Umberto Lenzi – 1980) One of the craziest films of the genre has radiated not quite zombies running and hacking away at their victims while Hugo Stiglitz searches for a way to stop them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_oy0mhWFBQ

Followed by

Burial Ground: Nights Of Terror (Dir. Andrea Bianchi – 1981) Possibly Italian genre films biggest trash fest features super rotten mouldering zombies on the attack while an even scarier man-boy will be what really creeps you out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOOwXX-uuso

All of this and there will be tables of VHS tapes for sale from area collectors for you to start or complete your collection.

VIDEO VIOLENCE is about a couple who move to a small town and open a video store only to be confused by the towns people exclusive interest in horror with some porn mixed in. One day an unmarked tape of what appears to be an actual murder is accidentally returned to the store and the little towns secret begins to be exposed.

We at the Arkham Film Society hope to use these monthly meetings to expose our audience to a mix of obscure forgotten films along with some new independent features. The first monthly meeting of The Arkham Film Society featuring a screening of GHOSTHOUSE!

Thursday May 31st
7pm doors – 8pm movie
$5.00
95 Empire Black Box
95 Empire Street, Providence

The Arkham Film Society and Malachi’s Café present a rare screening of one of our favorite late 80’s Euro Horror films GHOSTHOUSE, directed by none other than Umberto Lenzi (Cannibal Ferox, Nightmare City). GHOSTHOUSE is about a young couple who receive eerie messages on their HAM radio and track them to a haunted house and truly features everything including the kitchen sink. Not to mention the fact that the exteriors for said haunted house were shot at the same Massachusetts house featured in Lucio Fulci’s House By The Cemetery.

As an added bonus we will be screening of THE LUST MURDERS, a teaser made to promote an as yet unmade feature by David Marchand and featuring Sylvia Collatina who stares in Lucio Fulci’s House by The Cemetery. This short will be shown before GHOSTHOUSE. For more info go to

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lust-Murders-short-film-version-copyright-Soustre-de-Condat-Marchand/219108964825972

A note about this screening. As you may have noticed we are holding this event at a new location, we will still be holding our 35mm screenings at the Granoff Center but we are now also holding smaller digital screenings at the 95 Empire Black Box. These smaller digital screenings will act as our “monthly meetings” of the Arkham Film Society and will give us the opportunity to showcase a mixture of newer independent films and older films too obscure for us to feature in large screenings, and at a lower admission price as well. These screenings will also function as an opportunity for local horror and cult film fans to meet up and discuss films and will also feature the occasional vendor. Please let us know what you think about our “monthly meeting” plan and be sure to make recommendations of films or themes you would like to see us program.
