This year we give you VHS FOR CHRISTMAS!

Tuesday December 16th
9:00pm doors – 9:30pm Showtime
$5.00 or FREE with Brown / RISD student ID

@95 Empire Black Box
Upstairs
95 Empire Street,
Providence, RI

This December the Arkham Film Society would like to celebrate the holidays with you and a mess of Christmas themed shorts and specials that we're calling VHS FOR CHRISTMAS! We will screen a feature length compilation of crazy old Christmas shorts and weird as heck Christmas specials, this will probably be a great mix of nostalgia and confusion as to how some of this could have been made. Many of these are being sourced from old vhs tapes so we’re going to make our compilation on an old tape and show it that way.

Plus there are gifts! Yes every attendee will receive a free vhs tape (totally random titles that are probably bad) and we will be raffling off tons of other tapes and prize packages (actually some better stuff than the free door tapes but mostly just more stuff from our office.)

So come on out to the Black Box and celebrate the holidays with us, vhs tapes, and some borderline creepy shorts and specials.

For more info on upcoming events search for us on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram.

July brings JONAH to the Arkham Film Society

Monday July 7th
8:00 pm Doors  8:30 pm Screening
$5.00 Admission
At Empire Black Box
95 Empire Street,
Providence, RI

As you may know we at the Arkham Film Society have helped program and acted as consultants for film festivals in the past as well as entertained the idea of hosting our own film festival. Well we’ve decided to start a series of screenings under the Arkham Film Festival banner, these screenings will showcase current independent films that we are considering programming or recommending to other film festivals we work with. The first of these Arkham Film Festival screenings will take place in July and will showcase the 2014 documentary MY NAME IS JONAH and will be presented with some cast and crew members in attendance.

MY NAME IS JONAH (2014)
What is the secret origin of this self-proclaimed 'real-life warrior, adventurer and musician'? How has he gained his tremendous cult following? Steel yourselves for a quest to explore how this enigmatic personality came to be and the powerful effect he has on all those he meets. Prepare to be amazed at just how ordinary your own life really is...

In the past we have brought you screenings of great modern independent genre films and now we will be able to showcase more great new films as part of this series. We will program films as part of this series intermittently amongst our monthly screenings at the Black Box. As always you can get more info on our website.
